About Van Dyk by Wildes
Nestled in the rolling Derbyshire countryside in the idyllic location between Chesterfield and Worksop, you’ll find a quintessential country house hotel filled with character, charm and luxury. Welcome to Van Dyk, a beautifully historic 4-star hotel and Rosette Food Award winning fine dining establishment.
Built during the early 1800s by Henry Bowden, Van Dyk was originally known as Southgate House. It was a mansion for the elite in British society, serving as a luxurious family home for the Victorian gentry. Oozing class, style and sophistication, it has always been a place you were eager to visit and stay.
In 2009, the hotel was fully restored and tastefully refurbished to preserve its heritage. Sympathetic to its history, we’re retained period features and protected charming details of this stunning building, re-creating the grace and elegance that once filled these rooms and harking back to a bygone era of classic, traditional luxury.
With 15 individually themed and tastefully designed bedrooms with the highest quality fittings, a stay at Van Dyk includes all the contemporary amenities you could possibly require, coupled with the glamour and rural charm of a historic country house. Join us in our Bowden Restaurant – named after the original owner of the house – for an exquisite fine dining experience, or grab a bite to eat in our delicious ‘Southgate Brassiere’.
For rustic and charming weekend getaways, business events with a difference, or unforgettable stunning countryside weddings, come and join us at Van Dyk.
