About Helen Martin Bowen Technique & Yoga Teacher

I qualified in Bowen Technique Therapy in 2008 after a background in holistic massage and I am based at Neal’s Yard Remedies at 102 Hanover Street. There is a link on my website for more details. I have also been the main Complementary Health Therapist at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for 7 years within the Palliative Care Team, treating patients and family members and more recently at the Western General team working alongside nursing staff and consultants. I have also 4 years Service at The Macmillan Cancer centre treating outpatients with Bowen Technique for relaxation and stress reduction, totalling 9 years working within the Complementary Therapy Service with NHS Lothian at both RIE & at Western General on wards treating staff and young adults in TYACU and on wards 3 & 4. I am Yoga teacher in residence to TYACU for relaxation for patients and staff at the Western General. Presently I am working from the lovely surroundings of Neal’s Yard Remedies in Edinburgh city centre. Bowen Technique allows the body to access a deep feeling of relaxation by affecting the vagus nerve and releasing the connective tissue to restore equilibrium and balance the nervous system. Back pain, neck tension, headaches and other issues can be addressed and the effects are long lasting and often only need a few sessions to shift out of long standing tension patterns. I've been qualified in Bowen Technique Therapy since 2008 and have worked as the main Complementary Health Therapist at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for 7 years and at the Western General team for 4 years. I also teach yoga to patients and staff at the Western General. Now, I work from Neal's Yard Remedies in Edinburgh city centre where I offer Bowen Technique treatments to help with back pain, neck tension, headaches and other issues. For NHS Staff there is a 20% discount on treatments which usually cost £55 per session.
