About Ethiopian Airlines
Ethiopian Airlines is the national carrier of Ethiopia. It is headquartered in Addis Ababa. The airline operates a network of passenger and cargo services to destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and North America. Ethiopian Airlines was founded on November 20th, 1945 by Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia under the name Ethiopian Air Lines as a small air transport company. In 1951 it became a public company and changed its name to Ethiopian Airways Corporation (EAC). On March 31st, 1967, EAC was granted permission to fly outside Africa for the first time when one of its planes landed in London with 125 passengers on board. This marked the start of regular non-stop flights between London and Addis Ababa with a frequency of two flights per week.
