About Thornbury Golf Centre
The Course (Marlwood High Course)
The scenic 18 hole Marlwood Course, maintained to the highest standards and in excellent condition all year round, features a 6,308 yard layout that golfers of all abilities will enjoy playing.
Thanks to its position on high ground, the course offers beautiful panoramic views over the rolling countryside, across the Severn Estuary to Wales and the distant Cotswold Hills.
The combination of stunning views and an enjoyable golfing challenge are perfectly married on the elevated 1st tee, a par 5 that requires thought and a strategic approach to ensure a good score to start your round.
The course rides the hills high above the Severn Estuary and the clear, West Country air will fill your lungs during your round. Just as well, because the High Course’s demanding closing stretch, including the infamous 17th, will cause a deep intake of breath.
This 385-yard par 4 features a narrow fairway with large water hazard lurking to swallow up your ball should you be wayward. You’ll need a long iron or fairway wood to take on the well-protected green – if you make a par, you’ve done well, so reward yourself with a drink in the bar after.
The Course (The Severn View Par 3 Course)
Few golf venues benefit from a short (par 3) course to complement their full-length 18 hole course – fewer still can boast anything as special as Thornbury’s Severn View Course, one of the most beautiful and enjoyable short courses in the UK.
With tees, fairways and greens maintained to the same high standards as the Marlwood Course, this fun little course is ideal for a quick, time-saving 9 or 18 hole round and is the perfect place to improve your short game skills, play as a family or learn how to play golf.
The 12th hole is sure to capture your imagination and is rated as one of the best short course holes in the country.
