About Hales Osteopathic Practice
Osteopathy is a manual therapy that uses touch to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems. Osteopaths assess and examine the whoile body, not just the area of pain. We look to see if other areas of the body may be causing or maintaining the symptoms. Treatment aims to restore the balance in the body so that it has the ability to heal itself. Osteopaths use a wide variety of manipulative techniques which include; stetching and massage and rhythmic movements of the joints or occasional 'clicks' to increase joint mobility. Treatment is appropriate to age, fitness and the diagnosis. Cranial osteopathy is available at the practice which is extremely gentle and appropriate for all conditions. It is especially useful for babies and the elderly, or anyone who may not be able to tolerate stronger techniques. Osteopaths offer individual guidance on posture and can prescribe preventative exercises or instruction on joint care. If osteopathy is not appropriate for your condition, or your symptoms are due to an underlying medical condition, we can refer you to your GP or a specialist.
