The Halifax Playhouse, located within easy reach of Halifax town centre, began life as a Methodist Chapel before being converted into a 260 seat theatre in 1949, becoming the regular home of Halifax Thespians and their youth arm Playhouse ST (Stage Training). The Thespians present 8 main stage plays each year as well as plays and rehearsed readings in their Bar Studio. The Playhouse is hired by many local musical theatre companies, professional companies and is also the home of Halifax Film Society.
