About Darren Cheek Counselling
About me: A fully qualified and experienced, MBACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist - I offer both short (6-12sessions) and longer-term counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. With a diverse range of therapeutic experience, I am based just a few minutes from Waterloo Station and I also operate a practice in Withnell, Chorley PR6 8RY.
For the past 15 years I have worked within the NHS, as a trainer in mental health and communication - working alongside patients, doctors, consultants, psychiatrists and students.
My approach: An experienced Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, I pride myself on practicing to the highest ethical standards and I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). This means I adhere strictly to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics.
With an honest and open approach, I provide a confidential, supportive and safe space - where people can discuss and explore their personal issues, their choices, their behaviours, their thoughts, their beliefs and feelings - without fear of judgement, reproach or discrimination.
As an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist my therapeutic approach draws from both the Humanistic and Psychodynamic schools of thought in dealing with issues of change or acceptance. I draw on a number of approaches and styles of counselling to help clients explore and resolve their problems, and to achieve their goals and aspirations. These include Person-centred, Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles. People enter into counselling or psychotherapy for many different reasons – each person’s issues are unique, and so my focus is always on the individual and what they bring to the counselling room.
I also offer Skype and telephone sessions. I currently work online and telephone with clients within the UK and in various other countries around the world, including Pakistan and Kenya.
