Dating back to 1874, the hotel has been magnificently restored to retain its Victorian grandeur. From stunning stained glass windows to ornate fireplaces and classical corniced high ceilings, you will feel at home here. Its charming warm and friendly atmosphere provides the perfect retreat for a romantic weekend away or the business guest.

Being a Victorian hotel our rooms come in all different shapes and sizes adding more character than any chain hotel. You may choose from either a splendid classic double en-suite room or our stylish, more contemporary executive rooms with Super King Beds. Specially designed with romance in mind, our Superior 4 Poster rooms are our most popular, featuring elegant 4 poster beds and in some spa baths, perfect to compliment any special occasion, honeymoon or romantic weekend away. Whichever room you choose all are equipped with flat screen TV, DVD, IPod dock and lots little extras to ensure a comfortable stay.

We are located only 1.5miles from the Royal Mile. You may choose to explore Edinburgh on foot or by utilising the fantastic Edinburgh Bus Services opposite the hotel. The hotel is located on the main bus route into town, and buses stop frequently outside the hotel to and from the city centre.
