About Little Bears Nursery & Pre school
Little Bears Day Nursery and Pre school is a privately funded facility in the heart of Newbury town centre, with only a 10 minute walk from the train station we are also ideally located for commuters. The building itself is in an old church with beautiful surroundings.
For children from 3 months right up until they are ready for school, we are open 51 weeks a year and take government funded places from the age of 2. Little Bears is owned and run by Tejo Kaur who comes with a fantastic array of relevant qualifications but more than anything has a passion for children and enabling learning. Parents enter via the side door using a fingerprint entrance system allowing certain freedoms and flexibility.
With learning at the heart of the nursery, our emphasis is “learning from an early age, sets children up for their future”. We use structured, individualized teaching techniques to nurture the individual children. The different age groups focus learning in different ways, even the babies have individual plans, focusing on the individual progression eg. babbling, walking needs etc.
West Berkshire Mums came to visit us and this is what they had to say:
"We observed their circle time and were very impressed. The pre-school children started their morning off by discussing the day, month, year which they could pick from the list and stick in the correct boxed chart and followed this by the weather and then onto show and tell to build confidence. We observed learning through all the groups but using different teaching techniques, the toddler room (18 months-3 years) used spots to learn where to sit and discussed emotions on our visit, looking at pictures of faces and talking about how they feel."
The children also participate in French lessons and Sports Coaching and though their outside space is limited they utilize the surrounding area, such as the local cricket ground and going for walks in Victoria Park.
We have our own chef on site Jackie, who freshly prepares the meals on a 4 week menu rotation. It was evident that she loves what she does and being a mum herself she understands the importance of providing tasty healthy meals for children.
