About The Thomas A Becket Gym
Unlike any other gym in Cambridge, The Becket is a completely non-profit organisation. All of our coaches are voluntary and strive to keep social inclusion at the centre of our philosophy.
The original Thomas A Becket gym opened on top of the Thomas A Becket pub in the Old Kent Road in 1943. Since which it has housed a number of world champions such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Sugar Ray Leonard as well as our very own late Henry Cooper.
The new Thomas A Becket gym provides the full spectrum of boxing masterclasses catering for all abilities from absolute beginner to the professional athlete. Whether you want to compete or just keep fit in a fun and safe environment, the Thomas A Becket gym is the place for you.
Boxing is the ultimate challenge and often walking in to a boxing gym for the first time can be a daunting experience. However we believe we are the first gym to have broken the mould with our professional, friendly and welcoming environment.
At the Becket you can train to compete or just keep fit. Why don't you check out our boxing fitness or circuit days! We are open to all ages, all genders and pride ourselves on a social inclusion policy.
The gym has excellent facilities including 2 rings over two floors, 13 punchbags, 1 speed ball, skipping areas and a fitness room.
