About Furzeland Down Cottage
Furzeland Down Cottage sits on the edge of the Walkham valley, within Dartmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and also within a UNESCO World heritage site.
There are 20 acres of meadows and woodland to explore, kick back and enjoy the birdsong and pure country air.
Among other things you may well see the family of deer that live here and the badgers at night.
Enjoy privacy but not seclusion as we are only 5 minute from the ancient stannary town of Tavistock, the largest town in West Devon, with its fine architecture, built by the the 7th Duke of Bedford.
We are also just 20 minutes from Plymouth, with the Barbican and views across the Sound being a particular draw.
Just across the road from the property is the national cycle path, where you can cycle or walk as far away as North Devon in one direction and South Brittany in the other!
Enjoy a complimentary cream tea on arrival or if arriving late I'll leave you a homemade cake, you'll also find a bottle of bubbles in the fridge.
Next to the cottage is your own private enclosed garden with garden furniture and a BBQ.
On a hot day take a cooling plunge in the pool - shared with us - before setting off to explore the area - there is so much to see and do.
We can certainly help you with an itinerary if you wish, as there are various rural shows, food festivals, outdoor music events and theatre experiences to enjoy.
Also if you have any budding Jimmy Andersons or Joe Roots in your party please ask to use the cricket net.
We will do our very best to make sure you have an memorable stay and look forward to seeing you soon.
