About The Essential Treatment
Wendy Proctor experienced Pregnancy massage therapist and qualified Midwife offers a range of massage therapies in Bristol.
As an NHS Midwife but have been interested in Complementary Therapies especially massage for the last 15 years.
I been qualified for over 15 years in a range of therapies which grows each year. Due to the specialist nature of the Pregnancy Massage qualification I am able to massage women during the first trimester; during labour and also higher risk clients for example those with diabetes, pregnancy induced hypertension, using a unique blend of Shiatsu and massage techniques.
Since qualifying as a complementary therapist I have been interested in women’s health issues. I have seen over the years how complementary therapies have a positive effect on my clients.
The benefit of massage are it increases circulation of both blood and lymph which helps to eliminate toxins from the body, slows down the pulse rate, lowers blood pressure, releases tension built up in muscle, tones under worked muscle or weak muscle and relieves cramp.
The psychological benefits are that it can be relaxing, uplifting depression and despair, relieving panic or anger and the feeling of touch is a basic human behavioural need and is so important for both mental and physical health.
