About The Mermaid
Located in Ellington, a quintessentially English village on the outskirts of Cambridgeshire. This is where we have spent the past two years restoring The Mermaid, a truly beautiful 14th Century public house. After having undergone quite some neglect over the years we have managed to apply love and care to peel back the black paint and plasterboard to unveil a historic and charming building hidden beneath, complete with original beams running through the walls, brought to the village hundreds of years ago from a ship named ‘The Mermaid’.
It is here that we have created our family run restaurant, each of us with the passion and devotion to create something truly special within these ancient walls. Nicholas Marriott, our Head Chef who has spent time training at Michelin Star Restaurant Paris House, and is now using the skills learnt and his whole hearted passion to establish an extraordinary, ever-evolving menu.
If you or any of your guests have any special dietary requirements, please do let me know as we can adapt dishes and have a variety of alternative menus to meet everyone’s needs.
If you are interested in coming to visit us here at the Mermaid then please do let me know and we can arrange a date and time for you to come and indulge!
