The Dial House Hotel gets its name from the vertical declining sundial on the front of the building. This rare example of a sundial was designed and installed by J. Alfred Hardcastle, a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society: the hotel building was once his private home.
Over the years, the hotel has evolved to exceed the expectations of its visitors whilst retaining its homely charm. Rooms and public areas are refurbished annually in response to careful checks by staff and feedback from customers.
